University | Karnival Gegar Fkaas 3.0

Assalamualaikum and welcome to Jellove!

On 18th and 19th of September 2018, I was involved in my faculty's program, Karnival Gegar Fkaas 3.0. So, my hectic days started 3 weeks before the event started. Because of myself in the organization called Persatuan Pelajar Awam (PPA) for Department of Multimedia and Publicity, I was responsible for designing posters and some other multimedia kinds of stuff such as promoting the event and also in charge in taking pictures during the event happening.

I really love my department. Although it is hard, but I had fun. It is because it is my first time to get to do what I really like, and I get to hone my skills. I also learned a lot from my seniors who patiently guide me from the scratch, and I feel so blessed. I love the aesthetic feeling when I get to do what I really like. I hope that I can go to another level and skills later.

To be honest, I feel discouraged whenever my posters keep being rejected. Who doesn't feel that way right? I keep redesign/edit my posters due to demand from so many people. But still, I need to be creative for my posters and it is hard to do so under pressure. I have stayed for the whole day in front of my computer just to get an idea to do the logo. A very simple one and it was rejected. Haha!

So, this is the main poster for the event after so many changes, critiques, blood, sweat and tears. Hahaha! From what you can see from the poster, there are so many posters and I need to do the poster for each activity. The hectic days was over and now I am back to my normal self without nonsense text messages, talks and actions due to lack of sleep. Yes, I become very spaced out and not in my right mind whenever I lack sleeping. It is one of the side effects of lack of sleep.  I'm gonna show you some of the posters, and I will not share all of the posters because my article gonna be super long.

Poster for Ceramah Kesihatan.

Poster for Fuyoo Fkaas 2.0

An event for the kindergarten kids. They are super cute and adorable!

Tag for the facilitators of the programme.

I'm gonna show you some of my rejected posters. Well, I am not ashamed of it because I did well. #selfpraise

My first rejected the main poster. Hahaha... To be honest, I did not do well because of the choice of colour. It seems gloomy. Well, I find hard for the choice of colour for graphic design.

Rejected main logo. 👀

Rejected the main poster because I followed almost the same with the previous poster for the event due to miscommunication. 😅

I may be lacking in some parts but I still improving. I am far from being an expert because I am not professionally learning in the university. But, It is my dream to be a professional. Hahaha, wish me luck guys!

See ya!

Civil Engineering | Geology Field Trip

Assalamualaikum and Welcome to Jellove!

Last semester, 2nd-semester 2nd year, my course make a field trip to Sungai Lembing, Pahang. The trip was for 3 days and 2 night. The main purpose of this trip was to expose to student the real-life experience so that student could figure out the application of the theory that they have learned in class and could properly understand engineering geology. During the trip, we gets to learn how to use the equipment properly, especially the compass and Schmidt hammer. During the trip, we could enhance our knowledge in engineering geology while visiting several places for sightseeing as well as enhancing knowledge about the places that have been visited.

The first stop was at Ayer Hitam, Johor for data taking and also to find the geological properties of the slope near the work area.

The working area at Ayer Hitam

Data taking by using the compass

The hand was struggling to get the dip direction of the slope based on the compass. hahaha

After that, we moved to Sungai Lembing, Pahang and the trip taking the whole day. It was so exhausting because I only sleep inside the bus for the whole day. We arrived at Sungai Lembing at 5 or 6 pm, then get registered to our room and get to rest before the briefing at night.

Sungai Lembing Museum

Next day, We went to Sungai Lembing Museum for mineral hunting activities. We just went inside the museum to find the answers from the quiz given by the lecturer. Hahaha, after get the answers, I just went to the cool place and sit under the aircond until further notice from the lecturer. It was so freaking hot that day and I couldn't stand the heat.

After that, we moved to Bukit Charas, Sungai Lembing and went inside the cave to study the rock structures, the minerals and many more. But, it was so exhausting because I need to climb the stairs. The activity was to identify the chemical Sedimentary rock formation.

I climbed to the top. wahhhh you did it Nana!

This's how Bukit Charas looks like from the highest place in the area.

Later in the afternoon, we went to Sungai Lembing Mines. The best part of the trip I guess. I get to ride the gerabak and it was so fun. Hahaha, I back being a 13 years old Nana that day. But, that day, I was drenched with the water drops inside the mines. The perks of being a Civil Engineering student.

Geomechanics classification inside the mines.

 Working hard inside the dark.

FYI, the mines is a tourism area, so that day, we always get asked where we are from and what are we doing. Hahaha, People went into the mines only for sightseeing but we even read a book inside the mines to understand the data taking procedures.

The last day, we went to Black Stone Beach at Kuantan, Pahang for Identification on the weathering effect on Basalt rock. We just need to bring back a few rocks for the strength tests later in the lab.

Sample taking at Black Stone Beach.

For sure, we were exposed to the real-life experience of a geologist. The trip was so fun and memorable. The good thing is my programme always have field trips almost every semester. Learning Civil Engineering is fun.

See ya!

Lifestyle | New Semester And It Is Already A Mess

Assalamualaikum and Welcome to Jellove!

New semester started and I already busy 2 weeks before the semester started because of the upcoming programmes. Hahaha I am laughing but not really laughing. Probably, that is why I haven't blogwalking and post any entry. I don't even have enough time to eat nor sleep. Yes, it is that bad. My posters keep being rejected and when the design gets approved, the venue, time, etc keep changing and that is why I keep working enough to get back pain and stiff neck. I am dreaming of going to the spa and get a full body massage. That would be so great!

The worst case is when Wifi at my rented house at uni get terminated. I almost being homeless because struggling to find places with Wifi in my uni just to email my posters and to find materials for my posters. I go everywhere with my laptop and started making posters whenever I had time to spare. Luckily, The wifi working and it is a good news for me. But the thing is when in a meeting, they said that I always late email my posters. Well, they are trying to test my patience. My patience is like on the edge of the cliff. It will fall with the wind. I think only graphic designers could feel what I feel right now.

Lately, there are so many bad things happen around my friends and I, and it may be so unbearable. May Allah SWT grant us His blessings, and may he protect each one of us. InsyaAllah. Let's pray together for a blessing life. I hope that we can go through the hardships and struggles with a great patience and having each other without any depression or anxiety. I don't want those to come back to me.

see ya!

Lifestyle | Classical Music

Assalamualaikum and welcome to Jellove!

Sometimes, rather than listening to pop music, I choose to listen to classical music. I find listening to the classical music is so calming and a pleasure to hear. It seems like every melody has its own stories to tell. I started love listening to classical music when I was in high school. I started to find pop songs in instrument version or listening to an orchestra. From that, I started to know a pianist, Maksim Mrvica and Yiruma.

My favourite pieces of classical music are:

1. Beethoven: Sonata No. 21 in C Major
This one is not a well known, but a good start for you to listen.

2.  Beethoven: Fur Elise
This piece is one of the most well-known music by Beethoven. Even you who is not interested in classical music have heard this piece.

3. Mozart: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
A well-known piece from Mozart. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is A Little Night Music in English. It is very classic yet addicting. Very recommended!

4. Maksim Mrvica: Croatian Rhapsody
This piece is from Maksim Mrvica. The piece tells the story about Croatia's war. I read it somewhere and I can't remember. There are much more from Maksim Mrvica. He is a great pianist. He even makes a cover for John Legend's song, All of Me.

5. Yiruma & Henry: River Flows in You
This is not an original version from Yiruma, but a collaboration with Henry, a former member of Super Junior M, and I really love this one 👍

6. Beethoven: Moonlight Sonata
It is beautiful and filled with longing and another great piece from Beethoven.

7. Chopin: Nocturne op.9 No 2
Hearing this piece makes you feel calm and positive. It also sounds so romantic. You will love this one!

8. Maurice Ravel Piano Concerto in G major
One of the best all piano concerto. It sounds so magical and that's why I love it!

9. Mozart: The Sonata for Two Pianos in D major, K. 448
This piano work composed in 1781 by Mozart at age 25. The first time I heard this piece when I watch Anime, Nodame Cantabile. Because of that, I started to love classical music. After watching this Anime, I watch the drama and also Korean-remake version and I still freaking love it. You should watch the Anime!

10. Pachelbel: Canon in D
If you have play mobile phone game, Piano Tiles, I'm pretty sure you have heard this melody. This is the original version.

You can listen more of the classical music from Youtube or Spotify. You will prefer to listen to classical music while studying rather than listening to pop music that will make you only focus on singing. Hahaha, well if it is not you, it is me. I find it is hard to focus on studying while listening to pop music.

I am not a professional when it comes to music. I can't even read music chord but I do really love classical music and instrument especially piano and harp. 💖

In A Letter To

A Letter To My Fifteen-Year-Old self

Dear Nana,

First and foremost, congratulations! You are a Form 3 student now. You must be happy with your friends at school. Last year was so intense and it will be the most childish year for you. Everything is getting interesting starting this year!

As a 22-year-old, I realize that I still don't have much advice for you but remember to be strong and passionate no matter what you do. Stop playing and study! 💢 Ah! Stop taking so many selfies, you may feel regret later. 😐

At school, you may feel you have been discriminate with so many additional classes for the top student but you are not one of them. But that's okay, school is not everything. You will start again from the basic years later and you just need to believe in yourself and work harder. Don't ever feels that you are average, your skills, hobbies will be of no use later. Just do it! I believe you can use it later and you will shine later. That's okay. High school will be the best experience of your life and I know that you really love it now. I really love the way you started to be passionate about learning English by reading books and listening to English songs. Keep it up! 💪 All the drawings gonna be so nostalgic later so keep doing it and I know you will because you love it.

Years later, rather than keeping the problems by yourself, why not you cry as hard as you can and get up to move on. From that, you can avoid depression and anxiety. 😊

Finally, no matter what happens, you have your family and friend supporting you from the back. You can be the person you want, the person you need. Keep smiling just the way you are. Stop being so 'kerek' with friends from the other classes.

warm hugs,
22-year-old Nana
